Panasonic's "invisible" TV turns the OLED screen into transparent glass when not in use.
Panasonic has been developing transparent TVs, and earlier versions of the transparent TV prototype used LED screens, and some colors could still be seen when turned off, without achieving complete transparency like glass.
The current improved version replaces the original LED screen with an OLED screen. In transparent mode, it has completely turned into a piece of glass, allowing users to see what is inside through the screen.
To showcase this improved model, the company embedded the OLED screen into the sliding rail of the glass cabinet, using it as a sliding glass door. Pressing a button or making a gesture will immediately appear on the TV screen. When not in use, consumers can see the vases and statues inside the glass cabinet through the screen. Panasonic has also designed the transparent TV as a virtual jukebox.
A gesture controlled music application allows users to search for music while displaying content that takes up only half of the screen space, allowing users to still see objects inside clearly.
For this transparent TV, Panasonic is still in the process of improvement and is expected to make more optimizations to the product in the future, such as adding folding elements to the screen to make the things inside the screen more three-dimensional. In the future, these are all directions that this company will strive towards.
