There is the world's only glass Mazu Temple in the Changbin Industrial Zone of Lukang, Taiwan. This glass Mazu Temple was built by Taiming Jiang Enterprise, imitating the original appearance of the Qing Dynasty's Lukang Tianhou Palace. Construction began in 2007 and was inaugurated on March 31, 2012. It took five years and was made of at least 70000 pieces of glass.
The main structure of the Glass Temple is steel frame, and the exterior walls are curtain glass, with a strength that can withstand gusts of up to level 17 and strong earthquakes of up to level 8. The "swallowtail" part of the temple roof is also made of glass, overcoming the difficulty of insufficient tension and elasticity of glass materials, showing a strong momentum of smooth curvature and oblique insertion into the clouds, which is amazing.
From the outside, the appearance of this glass temple does have a similar outline to a typical temple, but there is a significant difference in color! The temple made of glass is very transparent and dreamy, and the whole room seems to emit a faint stream of sunlight refracted. Although the color intensity is not as strong as that of ordinary temples, it is very impressive.
The Glass Mazu Temple shines brightly in the morning when viewed, giving off a romantic and translucent feeling when photographed. Due to its glass nature, as long as it follows the changes in light and shadow throughout the day, the colors reflected by the glass will also be different, giving each minute its own unique beauty!;
