A magical maze made of 450 tons of glass

What would 450 tons of extra clear glass look like? At the Nelson Art Museum, you will find the answer. There, artist Robert Morris designed a magical maze using nearly one million pounds of one inch thick glass.

This triangular maze, which attempts to break the boundary between art and personal experience, is composed of several pieces of glass about 2 meters high. Unlike traditional mazes, its fully transparent design seems to increase the difficulty of passing.

Due to the fragility of the glass and the complexity of the design, the entire process took two months. The maze is a triangle with an arrow in the middle. From a distance, it looks like an optical phenomenon. If it weren't for a steel bar wrapped around the top of a seven foot high glass, it would look very supernatural.

When strolling between transparent glass walls, visitors can experience a highly interactive sensory experience. Most people will reach the center of the sculpture after entering the maze for 6 minutes, and then return to the exit along the same route. This dynamic maze provides visitors with an intimate experience, as they enter the winding glass maze to interact with each other and art.

83 year old artist Robert Morris said, "Building a maze with glass is not an easy task. After using wood, marble, and granite, I wanted to use stainless steel. Glass is the next step

The glass maze has the abstract and simplified form of minimalist sculpture and earth art, using its transparent characteristics to visually confuse people and identify the smooth glass wall in front of them. At the same time, it uses touch and hearing to assist oneself in smoothly passing through the entire maze.
